That's probably in the right ballpark.  Wikipedia mentions a couple of Linux 
versions concerning when TRIM support was added; they say "ATA TRIM" was added 
in 2.6.33, which includes SATA.

Linux kernel 2.6.32-279 according to:

However Red Hat are famous for doing a lot of backporting work, so it's not 
clear if their kernel supports discard / TRIM or not.
