You know how it goes, you just grow apart over time. When Fedora went to Gnome 3.x well that was it, we parted ways.
I mean sure we kept in touch, I was still working with RHEL and CentOS at work, but that was a professional relationship. The spark was gone, it just was not fun anymore. Well like any mid-life Linux user I woke up and said there has to be something better then Ubuntu, right? I mean Debian is nice but there has to be more then just deb out there. I reminisce about clean an RPM could be, so I decided to have a fling with the new Fedora. (fan fic stops there). I recommend installing "cinnamon" on Fedora 20. It restores that Gnome 2.x feel, while delivering fixes that even Gnome 3.x forgot about ( ability to right click and mount as root ). This is really not an issue with RHEL 6.x or 7.x since RedHat is good about maintaining a common desktop look and feel. Don't count out Fedora, especially when you remove Gnome 3.x ( if that's not your thing ). A well balanced Linux System Administrator works on both Debian and RedHat environments! -- Joe /** ** Joseph T Apuzzo ** GPFS SME (Linux, Windows, AIX), Linux LPI-c1 ** http://www.linkedin.com/in/japuzzo/ ** GPG: https://sks-keyservers.net/ use 2190E068 **/
