I've got a BeagleBoneBlack and running linux on it let's me do some
interesting things[it's a hell of a lot easier to prototype a USB TOTS
generator using python then working in C for example]. But performance
wise, I would not recommend trying to use as a desktop. :-)
I was looking at the crowd supply campaign for Bunnie's
laptop[http://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=3265] and after doing some
digging, I'm starting to see the appeal of it viewed as a general
electronics tool platform rather then viewing it as a programming tool.
His article on hacking micro sd cards was interesting in and of itself -
but I also found it interesting in how having his custom laptop
available made it easier to fiddle with custom probing code to determine
how to reprogram the microcontrollers on the sd cards.

As near as I can tell, the Wandboard Quad, http://www.wandboard.org/ is
pretty similar to the base system he is using,
https://www.crowdsupply.com/kosagi/novena-open-laptop
The primary difference from my perspective is that his will have 4G of
memory, while the Wandboard only has 2G.
I was wondering if anyone here has experience using the Wandboard Quad
as a desktop and how well it performs? Primarily for day to day usage,
so editing files in an IDE, web browsing, e-mail, etc. Not concerned
about compiler performance - I can offload that to the cloud.
