OK, it happens quite consistently with the nullser link to FreePPP on the
emulated Mac. One additional bit of information I didn't know in the
earlier message is that the control-panel "Off" button is a NOP in this
state, probably because it believes the interface is offline. But
openiung the GUI and clicking "Cancel" in the dialer window (the one I'd
prefer not to see :-)) shuts it down properly.
I wonder if a nullser link between two MiamiDx interfaces would show the
trouble. Not very useful for IP, but I'd expect the PPP code to work.
