I've been having my own charging issues lately, specifically the charge
light on the dash is intermittently coming on. I'm chalking it up to
the original 1990 (May '89), 220K mile alternator still being on the
car. A replacement is on the way, probably from Mexico with parts from
5 different alternators and brushes from Plow and Hearth, but if it
works for the 2 year warranty it'll probably outlast the rest of the
car anyway.

If the alternator has 105K on it
then its brushes and sliprings are also about worn out.

Hmmm... I wonder about that, actually, as my original 1995
alternator now has about 202K miles on it and seems to be putting out
the same voltage as when new. I wonder, though, if perhaps my charging
system would work BETTER in some way if the brushes were replaced, or
if the alternator itself was replaced.
