Always a chance, I guess... but it acts like the pump. I guess I need to
tear into it this weekend.. which sucks because if I am going to pull the
back dash apart to check the stock pump and filter, it would be nice to
just put in a new Walbro and be done with it instead of another week of
waiting or doing it twice. I could take the pump out of the other 92 in my
garage, I suppose.... hm.

Yeah, relay.. fed with 10ga direct from battery and from relay to pump.
Pump has 10ga ground. Relay triggered by factory fuel pump lead.

No kidding, but.. what? I need to check the pickup however when I replaced
pump 1 and pump 2, the pickup was fine, not clogged at all.

It's holding enough pressure (43psi I think) for partial throttle at 10psi
today, but above that it starts to taper off..

Wally

Your running a relay for the pump, right??

Something has to be killing these pumps since it’s not normal to have them
die so quickly. How about the pickup in the tank. Too much suction required
killing the pump??

As for the 255 pump I thought it was a problem since it tended to overpower
the FPR.

Subject: ARG - Fuel Pump dying again. :(

Yup.. pump #3 for the Sub.. this time a used external Pierburg is dying on
me... ARG. While my gap was wrong (0.045) which was causing some of my
misfire troubles, the real cuplrit is the fuel pump dying off.. it'll go to
60psi at WOT (15psi boost) but then quickly falls on it's face, dropping
like a rock and the car starts stumbling, O2 reading leaner than 13.0:1.

Since fuel pumps apparently are consumables on my car, any reason I should
avoid the $99 Walbro 255lph ones on eBay? I'm not swallowing another $242
for a new Pierburg since the life expectancy of a pump seems to be a year
or two.. but at $100 I can almost tolerate the frequency... Thoughts,
anyone?? The Pierburg wasn't silent, and you could hear it at idle.. if the
Walbro is the same noise level, I think I could tolerate it.
