Wow man that is brutal ! Who would have thought that merely buying
electronics on ebay could lead to a hassle like this? ;)

stranglesomeone?

I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with tech support. I purchased a
Fujitsu 3500 tablet PC (already have a 3400 and use it for MP3s) off Ebay
that didn't come with a drive or drive cable. No big deal since I have
plenty of HDs over here but I don't have the HD cable that it needs. I
called the Fujitsu parts department because I have been unable to locate a
source for the cables. Parts didn't have the cable and patched me through to
tech support. After 30 minutes (no exaggeration) on the phone telling the
guy my name, phone, address (including county), serial #, model #, config #,
etc we finally got down to talking about the part that I needed. He told me
that the HD cable wasn't a "user replaceable" part and that he would not
sell me one. Instead, I need to send the tablet in to get it installed. The
price .... $200 !!! Hell, I only paid $49 for the tablet. I'm sure he could
have told me that in the first 3 minutes of the call. Anyone ever thought
that a ribbon cable wasn't user replaceable? Reminds me of the time that my
microwave died so I called to get a new flux capacitor (or whatever the damn
thing is that makes it melt cheese). They quoted me a price and a model
number. I told them I would call back (wanted to do some searches for a
better price before I placed my order). When I called back the next day they
told me that they would not sell it to me. When I told them that I already
had a price and a model number they said it was an extremely dangerous
install and that I needed to have it professionally done. No, they wouldn't
believe them when I told them I was indeed a professional <G>...
