The same thing is happening to diesel Mercedes. I'm fixing up a 108
gasser ('72 280SE) for my girlfriend's son, so I'm paying attention to
car and part prices on these things now. Giant luxobarge 80's Merc's are
$5-6k because they can get close to 30mpg on vegetable oil.
I'm keeping my eye out for a 114 diesel with a 4-speed, though I don't
really have a place to park it. There's one in GA on eBay now, but I
don't have time for another road trip.
