Pulling head will not distort block or head. Just follow correct tightening 
sequence when re-installing, and remove head with reverse tightening sequence.

  i thought about this...once the head is off, isnt it  almost guaranteed  to 
need planing while if left on, it may retain a flat-ish edge?
