Start by looking for any vacuum hoses or pipe connections you might have
screwed up doing the radiator. Spontaneous crapulation is rare.

Subject: Low vacuum help

Hi All,

I have a '92, 1.6l JRSC w/ 152k on it (95k FI, 8 psi). Last Friday I
replaced the radiator. After restarting, the engine is pulling lower
vacuum (~ 4" lower) at all speeds, the power is down even in boost and
the idle dropped ~ 250 rpm. It is rough @ idle but stable. The car was
running well prior to this. It did start consuming oil about 3 weeks ago
after changing from Mobil 1 15w/50 to Royal Purple 5w/30 race. I am
attributing the consumption to thinner oil on a high mileage engine. I
intend on changing back to Mobil 1.

I have pulled the plugs and only #1 has some dark dry carbon deposits on
it; the rest are tan in color. The car was running rich prior to
re-tuning. There is trace oil in the intake all the way back to the SC.
I have pulled the valve cover and checked the static timing which looks
good; the belt deflection is within specs.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear them.

Thanks,

Mark

P.S. The engine is currently down to the timing belt.
