hi, would a ecu compensate if regular gas into, say, a 1997 bonnieville ssei which wants hi-test? if so, other than loss of power, would regular damage the motor, et al? thanks, peter Decrease the compression in the ol' Bonneville and you can use regular. A drip-type top end cleaning to remove built up carbon will lower the compression closer to normal (assuming the compression hasn't already dropped due to engine wear). A slight reduction in engine timing may also reduce the likelihood of ping. Have you tried a Mid-Grade Fuel compromise? That would be the smart thing to do. **************Vote for your city's best dining and nightlife. City's Best 2008. (http://citysbest.aol.com?ncid=aolacg00050000000102)
