Hello every one,
I know, I know... Winter isn't here yet... but, I am thinking it is time to rebuild my 97 with 156k+ miles on the engine. For the time being I am planning on running the car in the STS2 class for AutoX. So I wont be doing any thing that takes me out of that class. What numbers should I be seeing from compression? They are all right around 160-165, going to check them again this weekend to see what a summer of autoX did to the numbers. How much does altitude affect what I would see? Last tested at a friends house which is at 4300 feet or so.

What are your recommendations as far as parts to look for, possible trouble areas, any thing to pay special attention to? I am probably going to just get the rebuild kit from Flyin' Miata. None of the local shops could probably even put together all the parts for me to use any ways. Things I have done so far. The head is a rebuild from cylinderheads.com (some might remember my previous messages on that one). It has about 1k miles on it since I put it in. I am thinking about tearing it down and checking every thing over since they dont do a complete rebuild on the heads. I am still getting a bit of smoke under load at 5-6k+ rpm (that could just be the old rings though...) Any thoughts on what I should do with the head??

This is what I have done to the car so far.
Racing beat cold air intake. Racingbeat headers, mid pipe, and muffler. with a Magnaflow high flow cat. (only ones who could tell me if it was EPA certified or not.)

Koni shocks with racing beat lowering/stiffening springs (kinda thinking I should have spent the extra money and gone with a set of coil overs, but I do like these)
Racing beat front sway bar. rear bar has been removed.
Toyo Proxes R1R tires.

Also replaced the clutch last fall.

Thanks
