Cam/lifter matching is valid only when they're going back into the same head
they came from. All other combinations (except new cam & lifters) are
considered a fast-wear risk. But they should last long enough to verify the
mpg results.

You do realize that lifters are considered matched to a not only the cam but
the specific lobe by the wear pattern they develop. So you're going to replace
the cam and reuse the lifters that have run with that cam on those lobes??
Hope you're at least going to use a bunch of cam lube on the lobes to help the
engine at startup.

Subject: Swapping camshafts today. Any advice?

I think today is the day that I swap my intake camshaft. I'm wondering how
close to a full timing belt change I have to go to do this. Any advice/tips on
swapping it out without having to remove all the plastic covers or treat it as
it if was a belt change? I'm guessing I need to move the tension pulley out of
place and lock it down so I have some belt to play with. I recently changed
camshaft seals. Do I need to do this again if I pull the shaft out of it?
Thanks in advance for any tips you guys have for me!
