Bryan,
I've got to stick up for Robert a little.. having been down this road. A
good friend and I are both amazed at the sheer dregs of society that use
Craigslist.. the stupidity of questions, the inconsiderate nature, the
insulting low ball offers (how about 45% of your asking price?),
appointments made to sell a car and nobody showing up or calling..
Craiglist feels like a yard sale at a trailer park, quite frankly, and it
attracts the lowest common denominator.
Ebay at least requires a little common sense, a legally binding contract,
and traceability. Craigslist is an annon. platform which people take to
mean they can bust your balls, insult you, try to rip you off (literally,
care to ship that car to Europe whilst I pay from my offshore account in
Peru?), waste your time (how many of you have called on ads that sold WEEKS
prior??), ignore you (because it sold WEEKS prior), or someone listing
something at DOUBLE it's street value.. or my personal favorite; listing it
5 times (at once, mind you, so I can see your progression of desperation),
and when I decide you finally got it down to a reasonable amount and I
call, you change the price higher.
Robert went over the top (which I have done also as a direct result of
emails received on a snow blower, seriously asking me to ship it to AFRICA)
and perhaps over the line, but I can sympathize, I can relate, and I had a
good laugh. Personally, I would rather buy from him than "miata with turbo
very fast hauls ass show car with lots of mods must see to appreciate" guy
that can't use punctuation, can't give any useful details, doesn't post a
phone # or return emails but 2 weeks later sends one that says "aint got it
no more"
And before I get blasted, all that IMNSHO, and directly relating from
personal experience with buying and selling on Craigslist. We all have
different experiences, I bet Robert is having a bad one. I feel for ya,
buddy, I really do. :(

keep deleting my ad?

I don't think that's what Jim's wife was referring to. Quite frankly,
Robert, it looks like your ad was written by a 15 year old, who, quite
frankly again, had about the same regard for foul language as you did.
Honestly, it kind of puts off the potential buyer. Here are some
examples:
You're a homo for buying the car and driving it on the track, your wife is
so selfish that she made you put her new nice car in a garage (where it
can stay nice) while your un-streetable (not a word, I know) car sits
outside to be peed on (and whose precious slicks could probably also sit
in said garage), the buyer is apparently a moron for asking how good of
mileage a lightweight turbo'ed car gets (when we all kind of know that
that combination does oddly enough yield decent gas mileage), and the
buyer again is berated for wondering where they can get more information
about the car and perhaps learn the story of how you did all that ass-off
sweating work on the lift where your shins got racked (including an
admirable diet/workout plan on your part)...I could go on.
The point is, Robert, that I see all this...and I like you. I think your
car is neat. I almost wanted to build one like it myself. That said,
when I read the ad, the only thing I want to do is kick you right in the
baby-maker for being such a jerk, say "good day to you, sir," and walk
away. Perhaps the folks at Craigslist did the digital equivalent...Even
in jest, the ad just leaves you with a sour taste in your mouth.
Sorry man, not sure what about this morning is making me so verbose or
inclined to over-express myself (probably because I've a whole day of
"bottling it in" at work to do). Good luck in selling the car. I hope it
finds a good home and I wish you the best.
