I bought a '99 long block with decent compression - above 180 in all cylinders.
The seller didn't provide leakdown numbers, but I am planning to do that
before I proceed any further. I am contemplating going with an '01 block for
slightly higher compression(I don't mind paying for premium fuel).

I plan to run the stock ECU, but might add a MS later on, I know I won't be
able to keep it stock, I'm crazy like that...

questions:
1. Is it with going with an '01 bottom end for slightly higher compression?
ie, a worthwhile performance increase?
2. What about a mild shaving the '99 head - good idea/bad idea?
3. If leakdown #'s are good/low is it worth pulling the head to clean it up
and/or doing a valve job?
4. Is it worth doing a minor DIY port/polish on the '99-'00 heads?
5. Should I install a higher flow fuel pump for the larger injectors?

Thanks,
Mike
