I do the same thing.  I tried wiring the wastegate open, but it was easy
to see and that was no good.  I ended up just keeping my foot off the
gas as I drove it around town.  I have a 97 with OBDII.

PS - I also spliced my ballast resistors into my injector harnes and
mounted the resistor plate off the valve cover bolts.  I choose to
replace my injectors and harness as a set.

Yes, with the turbo still attached I would like to generate as little
boost as possible (ideally none). Basically I need to run the car with
stock ECU and injectors and the AFM strapped back on for a day or so.
I could probably just be very light with my right foot to prevent ever
getting into boost, but if there is some way of limiting (or
eliminating) the boost, that would be ideal.
