I thought the P5 was a great car, esp with a turbo. It did get
torque-steery with power and it was a plow on the autocross track.
Fantastic, fun daily driver, though. Teri was not happy when I turned it
into an M3. I've been told by someone who ought to know (Dan Pedroza,
who has raced both s/c and turbo Minis) that the turbo car has more
torque steer and they liked the earlier car better. I'm generally more
of a turbo guy, but we'll see how this one is. The turbos were too
expensive, anyway.

What I don't get is that, while the discussion was about the MINI,
nobody said squat about it being FWD. As soon as it's a Protege, people
get all passionate about how much FWD kinda sucks (except in the snow).

Just an observation.

wow! GENERATION GAP anyone? in the last generation gap we had
parents and kids fighting over the merits of Richard M Nixon and
Vietnam's role in stopping the march of communism.

Larry speaks some truth. Very different demographic than the
Miata. I got tired of 500 word sentences with no punctuation or
spelling. havep5

Not a big market in this country, either. Great car, though.

I'm up for a Flyin Mini as long as it doesn't disappear like the
Flyin Protege.

        /hugs his Protege 5

Curious what happened to Flyin Protege? Was it technical issues
that killed it? Or just lack of market?

After watching the bucket list last night, Teri has
decided she wants her Mini Cooper NOW. Anybody out there with experience
with them? She's looking at used S models, the turbos are still too
expensive.
