I highly recommend gunk engine degreaser, simple green, a roll of those blue
paper towels, and an air duster regulated to about 60 psi. Gather all of
these tools and stand in the middle of your empty engine bay (with goggles,
cause the air will spray stuff everywhere) and go to work. It took me about
an hour to get my engine bay sparkly when I swapped motors last year.

The gunk takes care of some things, the simple green others. The blue towels
are great for both. And the air sprayer will finish off hard to reach spots.
You should see my power steering. A year later and it still sparkles.
