So, the check engine light is supposed to come on when the key is turned to the on position- how long is it supposed to stay on? (this is assuming that the engine is in good operating condition and the CEL would not be on for any "appropriate" reason). Should it re-light after cranking, or would that be an extreme no-no in a good operating car?
