Again, why would anyone want to buy a diesel now (in the US)?

On pre '07 diesels:
* Impending injector failure due to low sulfer fuel
* 15 qt oil changes
* Increased routine mtc.
* Obviously more expensive fuel

On '07 up models
* Impending replacment of mega-dollar urea canister catalyst thing (but
injectors will be OK)

This all in addition to the diesel initial cost premium.  Diesels should
last longer, though this probably won't factor for most non-commercial
users.

My next tow vehicle purchase will be gasoline after using/maintaining a
diesel since 2000.

I do admit the reduced torque will be missed while towing
