You're most observant, Mark.
 
Perhaps the best way for us to look at government spending is to  change 
the way we look at our income.
If we consider our income only as our NET (after tax) income, rather than  
as our GROSS (pre-tax) income, then it doesn't really matter what the 
government  does with the money.  
It has little affect on us financially because we never had it to  begin 
with (politically is a different matter altogether).
GROSS income is like a lottery win.
Reality shows us that folks only KEEP the income they spend on the  tickets.
 
Unless you reach a very high net income level, you've little to show for it 
 anyway!
 
Let's be glad we can afford our shakes 'n fries, 'cause there's an awful  
lot of folks who can't.
