Legreatone seems to be CCing replies to a couple of private notes that I
have sent him to the list. I didn't want to clutter the list with a
great deal of NMC notes but in an effort to bring clarity to the
conversation (and just in case anyone else wants to read my ramble),
here is the private note I sent to him and to which he replied to publicly.

Just in case folks were somewhat confused... if not simply toss in the
bit bucket...

I am staying up much too late tonight but this discussion has my
interest. Slavery, (or worse) is but a decree away... each day
technology increases the chances of slavery or (un)intentional genocide.

Consider this open letter written in April 2000, to all members of the
US Congress and the US President by Bill Joy, Co-Founder and Chief
Scientist of Sun Microsystems. It was also published in Wired Magazine
in the April, 2000 issue.

The first link goes directly to the letter. The second link to a
synopsis in Wiki. Both are worth the time to read.

The threats to humanity are numerous and constant. Bill's warning is as
relevant now as it was when he wrote it 9 years ago.
