it seems that FM has perfected their products so completely, there are no performance questions left to be asked. then we tried using politics as a filler, and the results were initially promising but then deteriorated.

I think FM should dramatically increase the recommended boost levels to cause a succession of failures which we can then talk about how to resolve.

i can remember around ten years ago when installing my first turbo kit ($1100 greddy) to my 1.6 and getting almost no noticeable poweronce it heat soaked.

a forum member named Nate Ramsey was a big leader in making greddy's do what they supposed to. I remember him telling me that "at 8psi the miata starts to get fast". he was right.

so I added an AFPR, 1.8 injectors, starion junkyard intercooler, pierburg pump, and most importantly a J&S knock guard. was able to run 115 psi and 117lb rail pressures and stock timing.  the J&S would pull timing out on every pull at 3800rpm or so, then feed it back in.  shouldnt have worked, but it did... really well!  also ran a $75 catback DIY exhaust which helped a lot, designed by a forum member nicknamed Hakuna.

then went into a LINK ECU which took time to get used to but the Palm Pilot was great for datalogging to link lab.I'm not sure I was ever that good of a tuner, so Jesse Gypin made me a map whch was really good.

someone was developing a bigger greddy downpipe along with danny Godelfer and I got the actual prototype.

also added an ACT clutch

broke the 1.6 diff (on the highway) and did donuts in traffic until the car finally stopped on an off ramp. cars were coming around so fast that I dove over the rail and tumbled down through the brush.

so then I had to cough up $1500 for a TorSen (what do they go for now?)

also I recall installing a "vishnu" fuel rail, and jim bobowski's i/c piping kit. someone else also made the manual brass boost controller. cannot recall who.

once everything was dialed in right and I was over 200hp at the wheels at 15psi, I sold everything and built the supercharged V8. and that was REALLY fast.

now I'm starting from scratch again.
