That sounds like classic code reuse without understanding.

"Hey Bob, do you have any ECU code for charging the battery that I could use
in the MX-5?"
"Yeah, copy it from blah/blah/blah/mx-6/ecu/charging.cpp"
"Thanks!"

And the rest is history, and very confusing.
