I'll separate this from the FMII turbo thread.
In my experience the oil from the K&N type filter gums up the IAC and
causes it to stop working properly.
I had a K&N on my 94 for a while and did not think anything of it
until I started having IAC problems. A quick google search netted
some information and sure enough the IAC trouble was from the oil used
on the K&N filter. I switched back to paper filter and have had no
more problems.
