LOS ANGELES (AP) - Prospective jurors filled out questionnaires
Thursday for the upcoming retrial of the murder case against music
producer Phil Spector.

Several hundred potential panelists were set to file through the
courtroom in the next several days, as jury selection got under way.

Spector was in court wearing a dark suit and red tie.

His first trial ended a year ago when jurors deadlocked 10-2, with the
majority in favor of conviction. A unanimous vote was needed for
conviction.

Spector is charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of actress
Lana Clarkson, 40, at his Alhambra mansion in 2003. He has pleaded not
guilty.

Spector, famed for his "Wall of Sound" recording technique in the
1960s, remained free on $1 million bail.

Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler assured the prospective jurors
that their names will be kept secret from him and the public to
protect their privacy.
