"I wanna hear that record, and I wanna hear that record NOW!" "What gets me so hot I could scream? (Alice Cooper, Alice Cooper)!!"
Even the original Turtles, back in their heyday, put on a fairly filthy show (a friend of mine saw them in '67, at a frat party!), considering their squeaky clean-pop image. Hell, they got away with a blatant drug reference, in the song "She's My Girl". It begins: "Morning, morning glory, would you like to know where was I last night?" (BTW, he was "off in the sky") Some varieties of morning glory's contain lysergic acid (LS, not LSD, but closely related). Drugs? Not the "Happy Together" Turtles.....yeah, right. They were a pretty warped band, seek out all of their non-LP b-sides for a look at the non-pop side.
