vocals, records “Rockin’ Chair.”

1960 – Elvis Presley's latest UK single, "It's Now Or Never," breaks
all records by selling one million copies in six weeks.
1960 – Solomon Burke records “Just Out Of Reach (Of My Two Open Arms)”
at his first Atlantic recording session in New York.
1961 – At Brian Epstein’s invitation, Decca A&R man Mike Smith visits
the Cavern Club to watch The Beatles’ evening show. Following their
performance, Smith offers the group a January 1 session date.

Royal?” episode of ABC-TV’s Burke’s Law.
1966 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience makes their television debut on

1969 – Diana Ross sues the Latino Casino in Philadelphia for $27,500
after her two pet dogs died from eating cyanide tablets left by an

2004 – For the first time, Dick Clark is forced to bow out from

2005 – A District Bank Limited check signed by John Lennon, made out

for £2,000 at a UK auction.
2006 – Yoko Ono’s chauffer and bodyguard Koral Karson is arrested in
New York and charged with attempted first-degree grand larceny after
trying to extort $2 million from her, after Ono tapes him threatening
her with releasing private papers and photos if she didn’t pay up.
2007 – Joe Cocker receives the OBE (Order of the British Empire) honor
from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
2008 – Rapper Dizzee Rascal (aka Dylan Mills) is arrested in Sevenoaks
Way in south-east London when he approaches another motorist with a
baseball bat following a road rage incident. Rascal is held on
suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
2010 – Paul McCartney performs at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.
