Scored a couple of great finds at two of the many thrift stores in Paradise yesterday -- a brand new, sealed box set of The Doors' complete studio recordings for $29! All six of their studio albums in mini covers with inner sleeves, plus a disc of alternates, demos and rarities, and a fat booklet. Unbelievable! Also picked up a used copy of the 4-disc Steely Dan box set for $10! Equally great! And last but not least, I found a brand new, sealed Time-Life 9 DVD box set of Soul Train for $25. I never watched that show back in the day, but watched one of the discs last night and it's great! Live sets by The Isley Brothers, Sly and The Family Stone and Barry White and The Love Unlimited Orchestra! Sponsored by Ultra Sheen and Afro Sheen! Great 'fros and clothes! Pretty damn cool! Didn't appreciate it 35+ years ago, but I can dig it now! I don't know about weekly, but I'm gonna have to make the thrift stores a part of my monthly rounds.
