at Castle Studios in Nashville during her first session for Decca
Records.
1958 – One of the first major rock and roll riots breaks out during
Alan Freed's "Big Beat Spring 1958" show at the Boston Arena, with
local police threatening to shut the show down because of dancing and
Alan Freed telling the crowd from the stage, "The police don't want
you to have fun." He is arrested for inciting a riot.
1960 – Cathy Jean and The Roommates record "Please Love Me Forever" in
New York City for Valmor Records.
1964 – Gerry and The Pacemakers make their U.S. television debut on
The Ed Sullivan Show, singing "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying."
Stevie Wonder is also on the show, performing "Fingertips."
1965 – The Beatles spend the first of three days filming on Salisbury
Plain with the British Army's Third Tank Division for their
forthcoming film Help!
1966 – The Temptations release their single, "Ain't Too Proud To Beg"
b/w "You'll Lose A Precious Love."
1967 – Frank and Nancy Sinatra's "Somethin' Stupid" hits #1 on the
chart.
1967 – Only days after completing their package tour with Jimi Hendix,
Engelbert Humperdinck and Cat Stevens, The Walker Brothers announce
they are splitting up.
1967 – Pink Floyd appears at the Moulin Rouge in Ainsdale, Southport.
1968 – The Beach Boys begin their 17-date tour featuring the Maharishi
at the Washington Coliseum in Washington D.C. The tour is cancelled
after two days and five shows.
1969 – Jimi Hendrix is arrested at the Toronto International Airport
for possession of heroin and hashish.
1969 – Bob Dylan records “Take A Message To Mary,” “Blue Moon,”
“Folsom Prison Blues” and “Ring Of Fire” at Columbia Studios in
Nashville. Session musicians include Charlie McCoy (bass), Pete Drake
(pedal steel guitar), Fred Carter Jr. (guitar), Robert Wilson (piano),

Sheffield, Alabama. Sessions musicians include Barry Beckett on

Withers on drums.

members of Oasis to open accounts on the grounds of the band’s bad
behavior.
2004 – The U.S. Supreme Court rejects an appeal by bassist Bob Daisley
and drummer Lee Kerslake, who claim they are owed royalties from Ozzy
Osbourne's albums Blizzard Of Ozz (1980) and Diary Of A Madman (1981).
Ozzy's manager and wife Sharon said that the pair had "abused and
harassed" her family for so many years that in 2002 she had Daisley’s
and Kerslake’s bass and drums contributions removed from the albums,
had them re-recorded by Robert Trujillo (bass) and Mike Bordin
(drums), and re-released the albums.
2004 – Morrissey plays the first of five nights at the Apollo Theatre
in New York City during his You Are The Quarry Tour.
2006 – Bob Dylan hosts the Theme Time Radio Hour for the first time on
XM satellite radio.
2008 – Sean “Diddy” Combs receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame.
