1956 – Clarence “Frogman” Henry releases his single, “Troubles, Troubles” 
b/w “Ain’t Got No Home” on the Chess Records subsidiary, Argo Records.

1957 – Police in Oakland, California, inform Elvis Presley that he is not 
allowed to swivel his hips onstage during his performance at the Oakland 
Auditorium. Elvis responds by sarcastically wiggling only his little finger 
while singing. The cops film the show anyway, just in case.

1957 – The Crickets release their single, “Oh Boy!” b/w “Not Fade Away” on 
Brunswick Records.

1957 – The Ed Sullivan Show hosts an ASCAP Tribute Show, featuring The 
Platters, Frances Farmer, Don Rondo, Jane Morgan, Joe Howard and others.

1957 – Alan Freed’s Biggest Show Of Stars ’57 tour stops at the Coliseum in 
Spokane, Washington, featuring Frankie Lymon, Eddie Cochran, LaVerne Baker,

1964 – 31-year old Salvatore “Sonny” Bono, a studio assistant to Phil 
Spector, "marries" his protégé, 18-year old Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPierre, in 
a Tijuana motel bathroom, exchanging rings and pledging their love, 
although no one is there to officiate the nuptials. The pair will make it 
official in 1969.

1964 – The Supremes release their single, “Come See About Me” b/w “You’re

Manson, to testify at the murder trial.

2003 – On his 36th birthday, Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland is 
arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he 
crashes his car in Hollywood.

2005 – Paramount Pictures, distributor of rapper 50 Cent's new film Get 
Rich Or Die Tryin’, agrees to remove posters advertising the film after 
complaints from Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich that they 
glorify gun violence.

2007 – Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards marches with 5,000 
campaigners walking through Chichester protesting against possible Sussex 
hospital cuts which could see St. Richard's Hospital downgraded.

2007 – Singer Róisín Murphy is hospitalized after she hits her face on a 
chair on stage while touring Russia, and damages her eye socket, forcing

2010 – Country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus and his producer wife, Tish,

2011 – The former manager of James Brown, David Cannon, is found guilty of 
breach of trust by a South Carolina judge and is sentenced to three year’s 
house arrest after being charged with over-paying himself to the tune of $7
