Thanks to this group's efforts, I've got an image coming out of my Thinkpad's built-in camera again. However, when using MPlayer to check the image, I've noticed some weird behavior.First, under low-ish light conditions, the image is very dark (darker than I remember in previous incarnations of the driver), and the frame rate is quite slow -- about five frames/second. I've tried fiddling with the 'exposure' and 'brightness' controls in /sys/class/video4linux/video0, but haven't had much luck getting decent results. Their current settings are: ---- ew...@walkies:/sys/class/video4linux/video0$ cat informations Driver Resolution : 640x480 <NULL> Brightness : 0x7F00 Contrast : 0x0 Whiteness : 0x3333 Exposure : 0xFFFF Sharpness : 0x1F Horizontal flip : 0 Vertical flip : 0 Auto-exposure : 0 Auto-whitebalance : 1 ---- Second, after about 15 to 30 seconds of dark imagery, the image starts flipping frame by frame between dark frames and lighter, well-exposed frames. Further, the dark frame appears to never change, whereas the lighter frame has up-to-date imagery. It's almost as if some auto-exposure feature is getting terribly confused. I have no idea if this can be ascribed to the driver or MPlayer. I've attached two screengrabs for illustration -- one dark and one light. Should I wait for further driver improvements, or is there something I can fiddle with? Please excuse the late answer. The reason could be the software exposure switching from dark to bright because of the brightness values constantly crossing out of the boundaries (maximum on the bright and minimum on the dark side).
