Ok first are you using libv4l? Also try using libv4l2 with mplayer for testing purposes. When you say no image do eman you it is scrambled or simply that all you get is a green or black screen?
Also when you insert your driver using insmod do the following instead insmod sn9c20x.ko log_level=15 This should turn on debug and error logging giving you more output in dmesg that might help figure out what is wrong.
