There's no reason you can't use Microformats (or semantic HTML in general) wherever you use HTML. Whether it's on the desktop or anywhere else. (There's nothing novel about apply semantics to HTML in any situation.)
So basically, since it seems like this thing is using HTML, you could certainly use Microformats (and other semantic HTML) there.
