OK, I put up a quick rewrite of one CFP with one vevent for the conference itself and vtodo elements for the deadlines. I used an hCard for the contact, and the description and categories vcalendar elements worked pretty well for the conference details.
Take a look here: http://michael-mccracken.net/misc/cfp/sigmetrics06-uf.html I welcome suggestions or comments. I have one concern about this: the categories element worked OK, but the event's category and the categories of appropriate papers aren't necessarily the same thing. I added one category on the "Call for papers", so that could be searched for, but is there a better way to mark up the paper topics? To quote Tantek, RFC 2445 is a big spec. I guess I didn't think it'd have so much room for added details. Assuming I haven't abused vcalendar here, I'd say there's no need for a new microformat for CFPs - *but* there's definitely a need for a CFP creator tool if we'd ever expect people to generate this kind of markup - it took a few hours in emacs, and I had instant-validation on... It'll be a good learning exercise, and we'll see if there's really a need for something new. I'll post again when I'm done... -mike -- Michael McCracken UCSD CSE PhD Candidate research: http://www.cse.ucsd.edu/~mmccrack/ misc: http://michael-mccracken.net/wp/
