Exactly. "Middle" name is a silly concept in the real world, particularly when you get beyond North America and maybe parts of Wstern Europe. One of the things I think vCard got right is that the name model is quite international-friendly. It does not assume anything in particular about the relation between sort order and name part type. It's why there's no "first/last/middle" structures, and why they have the sort-string property.
