It's not about wikis as a tool, it's about this bizarre and ridiculous
idea that using microformats.org is a requirement. Work should
happen wherever it is convenient and productive, just like with open
source work, Linux work, web work, IETF work, scientific research, etc
ad infinitum.
If you want to have a centralized site, be an aggregator or a source
of useful resources that will attract developers. There is no point
at all in treating work on other web sites as less valid.
Yeah, I don't think it's less valid. It simply isn't as visible to the
rest of the community without extra effort -- and therefore requires
some additional work on the part of the creator to spread it and get
additional eyeballs.
I agree that you should be able to use whatever tool makes the most
sense for your work; you also have to accept that there may be
secondary effects to choosing a certain context or tool.
In any case, it's fine if Chris wants to work externally on hRelease
-- it just means that it's not as convenient for those of us who do
subscribe to the changes of the mf dot org wiki to pitch in.
