How does GRDDL (Gleaning Resource Descriptions from Dialects of
Languages) play into this?

XDMP (XHTML Meta Data Profiles) does seem a part of this...

And I'd watch the Live Clipboard work to get a sense for how they
intend to implement support for microformats (including which ones).

Just like any other XML spec, certainly they're likely to pick and
choose more stable formats, but at the same time, their underlying RSS
architecture in Vista should be useful in leveraging microformatted
content delivered in RSS.

I guess this would be a good time to bring up XMDP profiles again...

Though like with any client side microformat support it is a case of
what you're doing with the data when you say you "support it". If
support consists of detection + integration of a limited set of (say
Outlook/Exchange friendly) formats (hcal, hcard) then there is less
of a reason to care about new formats (just updates to existing ones)
vs. the case of trying to build live clipboard support for all data
types.
