Hi everyone,
An update to the microformats wiki is finally ready to go live (updating to the new build of mediawiki, plus some new theming features and plug-ins).

Good luck with the switchover! Any chance of openid for logins in the new version?

Adding OpenID support was something I was really keen to do, and has been a long running requested feature. However, the current state of the OpenID extension for MediaWiki is overkill for us. The plug-in that's available transforms the wiki into a full on OpenID _provider_, and we don't want the maintenance/responsibility cost of doing that. We just want login support.

So the task has been deferred pending someone writing a super-simple OpenIDLogin plugin, or dedicating longer to the existing extension and getting it installed properly. It might not take that long to do the latter, but it's a more substantial installation than other extensions, so I'm preferring to get the current work released with a view to adding it later.

Given the way in which microformats.org is spread across multiple platforms (the wordpress blog, mediawiki, various API kits hosted on Google and elsewhere), I'm certainly very keen to have OpenID as a feature on everything we do.

New features are approximately listed on the microformats todo list here: http://microformats.org/wiki/todo#Wiki_2.0 and will be documented more thoroughly on the wiki itself when we do the upgrade.
