Excellent point. Don (though he's not alone in this, by any stretch) is notorious for not grounding his positions or claims in well defined terms. I think the best response is to avoid using those terms, and, as you say, be explicit about which of REST's constraints aren't being followed, as well as which additional ones are being applied.
