Like I indicated replying to your question in another group.

You have presented a very broad question and so general that most may not
answer it as you has now determined by presenting it to another group.

It is better to present a specific case, so the members think about helping
you and not to think that is just VAPORWARE.

Your idea is possible and it has been done before BUT you need to supply
what you have and/or what you may be able to get to attain what you desire,
I have done it many times before.

Basically, all types of generators need to supply a common equal voltage (
in principle) - some what more general --all sources should be equivalent to
constant current sources with capabilities to cover the battery voltage
ranges.
