The microhydro discussion forum welcomes its 1000th member! On the Internet several energy related discussion groups exist, ranging from homepower, stoves, bioenergy, alternative energy to solar and wind energy. Up till 1998 no discussion list existed specifically dedicated to microhydro power. By the end of that year Wim Klunne initiated the microhydro discussion forum. What started as a small group of people discussing hydropower issues, has grown in the six years since its inception to a lively discussion forum with members from all over the world.
The discussion forum is explicitly limited to discussions regarding run-of-the-river hydropower schemes with an installed capacity of maximum a couple of hundreds kilowatts. The purpose of the list is exchange of information on technical as well as non-technical issues concerning micro hydro. The list facilitates exchange of information, finding answers to micro hydro related questions, announcing relevant activities (conferences, news flashes, software releases, book reviews etc., etc.), finding colleagues battling with similar issues as you are doing and of course making friends. Due to the fact that the list is moderated, all the messages that are approved for circulation amongst its members are strictly related to the microhydro topic. No SPAM nor viruses are distributed via this list. Last month the microhydro forum welcomed its 1000th member, demonstrating the need for a forum on microhydro, as identified by Wim Klunne six years ago, is still there. The microhydro forum is linked to Wim Klunne�s web portal on microhydro. The largest wed site on this subject on the Internet with approximately 400 visitors daily.
