I suspect that he really did mean kWh. However, there is a much bigger issue. We have an uphill battle trying to inform and educate journalists who write about energy matters without having a clue about the difference between kW and kWh. Moreover if you are interviewed on renewable energy matters by a magazine or newspaper journalist, as I have been many times, they generally refuse to let you read their draft article, claiming that you are trying to exercise censorship. I have been told this even when I said that I just wanted to make sure that they got their facts right and that they used the right terms to describe energy and power. Two of the articles (Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle) were sufficiently embarrassing to me (due to mistakes made by the reporters) that I stopped giving interviews.
