My stream is also acidic. I have not noticed any problems in the 
several years I have been running microhydro. The turgo runner on the 
turbine is not metal, so obviously no erosion. The turbine housing is 
cast aluminium which is painted. Again, no noticable erosion. 
Penstock plastic - no erosion. However I do find that concrete blocks 
used for forebay do erode at water level. Since I coated these in 
cement render I have had no further trouble.
