Tom,
I have been using ram pumps for the past 25 years to pump my drinking water from a spring up to a storage tank. My head is about 10 feet and the tank is 75 vertical feet above the spring, very similar to your situation. However my flow rate is much smaller, varying between 3 gallons/minute up to 100 g/m. My experience is that it takes approximately 2/3 of the water to pump the other 1/3. My currrent ram has a cast aluminum housing, weighted stainless steel piston rod (no springs which tend to corrode and break), with with two neoprene rubber valves. It has been running continuously since 1985. Most rams can be adjusted over a wide range of flow rates. My ram has two stainless steel nuts on the piston rod that adjusts the stroke length. The shorter the stroke, the less water used and pumped. The manufacturer is Jim Folk in Missisippi. He makes two sizes. The larger size should fit your needs. Just use two or more in parallel until you use all your water. This will work better than one large unit that cannot be turned down enough in dry weather. ------------------------ Yahoo!
