Here is another suggestion, avoiding emptying the supply tube and having the associated clearing of air problems. It involves some simple circuitry and a valve near the nozzle. Suppose you have a float in the tank with a magnet on a stick, all being guided by a tube and that you sense the lower and upper position by the magnet closing a contact, cheep to get hold of used in alarm systems. Then on an existing manual valve you use a linear actuator, (you get cheap ones used for driving a satelite dish), to drive the valve open and shut as required, using micro switches at each extreme end to indicate stop driving when fully shut or fully open.
