My micro-hydro has worked fine for several years with minimal
trash screening. Recently, I have had the turbine nozzles blocked
with dead frogs. Now I know that Egypt was plagued with them when
Moses was around but they have suddenly appeared in the stream that
provides the water for the turbine. They have never been present
before. So, this hill stream and its surrounding area seems to have
warmed up significantly enough to make the habitat suitable for
frogs. Proof of global warming ? The trash screen has had to be
extended over the top of the forebay to stop the blighters jumping in
and commiting suicide
