Douglass:
Where are you located ?. A DC Electronic Level Controller will solve the problem., it is simple to make. The size motor you are talking abut seems that will have brushes that will wear out for periodic maintenance. There are other solutions for your problem and it would be a Brushless Permanent Motor or an Induction motor converted to a generator. With an Induction motor/generator you as well have the possibility of using the AC voltage generated -- directly Can you describe your plans for the Hydro system, including the water volume, head and other available parameters ? You can email me directly Nando ----- Original Message ----- From: "Douglas B Rupp" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 17, 2005 9:20 PM Subject: [microhydro] Clipping circuit for MPPT charge controller > > > It was suggested to me that a 3KW 125V DC generator could be used to charge a 48VDC battery bank through the use of one of the new MPPT charge controllers, like the Outback MX-60. The main problem being that the absolute maximum voltage allowed on the input of the charge controller is 150V or a little less. I suspect that a DC generator might exceed that with no load (e.g. fully charged batteries) so I was wondering what ideas the group might have for effectively limiting the voltage without adversely effecting the operation of the controller or generator. > > --Douglas Rupp > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > > > > > Does your company feature in the microhydro business directory at http://microhydropower.net/directory ?
