Hey all, just an update and a request: First, Paul Cunningham and I are busy designing a "leaf mulcher" for our new unit's blades similar to one that Michael Lawley mentioned to me last year, as well as another idea of a narrow wire mesh that the blades would pass on their way around the interior of the intake...and I'll be trying these ideas out to take the next step in figuring out a good way to get rid of our debris (the Australian low-head...). We'll be back in Oz in September, so stay tuned. In the meantime, we have an aboriginal neighbor with a high-head micro hydro (a pelton I believe), with a 100 + year old kilometer long irrigation trench for an intake. Between the post fire floods and horses and cattle etc. it keeps getting blocked with debris, and so does his pelton...years ago I saw some sketches and fotos of several in-place screening systems for long, high head units in the microhydro archives...basically a wier with a screen where the debris washed off the angled screen. Does anyone have a good idea of where and how I might search for these fotos and drawings of the in-place systems? I'd like to give them to my friend and help him build one. Cheers..Jeffe
