Splash: I'm not an electrical guru, but increase the head, by all means. If you can make a small cross flow, cheaply, I'd believe it's got to be better than your furnace fan. Furnace fan has curved blades, which are designed to move air, not be driven by air (or water). Just my humble 2 cents worth. Where are you located?
